Wonder foods for your eyes

When we talk about staying healthy, we mostly focus on heart, bones, and brain. But for healthy aging, we also require our eyes to be fit and healthy. With aging, different problems ail our eyes such as loss of vision, cataract, muscular degeneration and night vision problems. There are several nutrients which help to protect our eyes such as Beta Carotene, Vitamin C, plus Zinc, Omega 3 Fats and Vitamin E. Here is a look at some foods that keep our eyes fit.

Beans: Beans ranging from kidney beans to chick peas and lentils are a great source of zinc. Zinc releases Vitamin A to your diet. Deficiency in Zinc leads deterioration of macula, in retina. Zinc is also present in beef and poultry.

Broccoli is important in keeping heart and cancer disease away from you but it is equally important for eyes. It has nutrients which reduce the problems related to muscular degeneration and loss of vision.

Eggs are an important source of zinc, lutein, B12, Vitamin D, Vitamin A and cysteine which helps in protecting your eyes from various diseases.
Wheat germ: Being a big source of Vitamin E, Wheat Germ decreases the development of cataract and muscular degeneration. Almonds, hazelnut and sunflower seeds are also a great source of Vitamin E which helps in keeping your eyes healthy.
Carrots: The saying turned out to be true. Carrots are actually good for your eyes. Rich in beta-carotene, that protects the eye and reduces the risk of cataracts, carrots can easily be included in your diet in the form of salads or stir-fried veggies.
Spinach: Along with carrots, spinach is probably the other food that pops in your mind when you think of foods that helpmaintain eye health. And not without reason. Packed with beta carotene, zeaxanthin, lutein, vitamin C and a number of antioxidants; spinach works by absorbing more than 40% of blue light intensity that may harm your eyes and increase the pigment density of the macula, thus significantly lowering the risk of macular degeneration.
Sweet potatoes: An easy accompaniment to your meal, sweet potatoes taste best when fried or boiled and mashed. They are packed with beta-carotene when makes them a total must-have for eye health.
Sardines: Now here’s something you may not have expected. Sardines are rich in omega 3 fatty acids, which are not only healthy for your heart, but also for your eyes. They can be included in your diet twice a week and they work by protecting the tiny blood vessels in your eyes and maintaining overall eye health.
Cherries: Cherries contain antioxidants that can prevent eye problems that lead to blindness. They are also rich in bioflavonoids that strengthen the blood vessels that carry oxygen to the eyes and brain. Cherries also contain calcium, potassium, fiber and iron, and Vitamins A, B and C.E
Almonds are rich in Vitamin E that help prevent cataract and improves vision

Corn is a great source of lutein and zeaxanthin, and a fair source of beta-carotene and Vitamin C.

Strawberries are rich source of Vitamin E. Studies reveal that person whose diet is rich in Vitamin E is three times less likely to develop macular degeneration that is the main cause of poor eyesight in the elderly.

Oats and its nutrients

Oats is a species of cereal grain grown for its seed. High in fibre, while oats are primarily used as livestock feed, it is suitable for human consumption in the form of oatmeal and rolled oats. This grain gains its distinctive flavour from the roasting process it undergoes after it’s harvested and cleaned. This process, however, does not strip it off its fibre and other nutrients.

Oats are high in magnesium, calcium, phosphorous, selenium, magnesium and zinc. It’s a good source of carbohydrates and proteins; in addition it is high in dietary fibre content and is also low fat.

Health benefits of oats:
Lowers cholesterol: One of the biggest known benefits of oats is its cholesterol lowering properties. Oats contain a soluble fibre called beta-glucans. This soluble fibre helps reduce LDL (bad cholesterol) and thereby cuts risk of heart disease. One study indicates that a bowl of oatmeal daily reduces risk of cardiovascular disease by 10%.
Reduces high blood sugar: Oats has a low-glycaemic index and contains high amounts of fibre, which helps normalise sugar spikes. Type 2 diabetes patients can benefit tremendously by eating oats daily.
Reduces weight: The soluble fibre in oats forms a gel when digested. This increases the viscosity in the small intestine and stomach, leaving one feeling fuller for longer thus aiding weight loss. In addition to that oats is a low-fat food making it ideal for weight loss.
Boosts immunity: Selenium and vitamin-E present in oats strengthens the immune system aiding its fight against infections. Oats also cinatins zinc, which helps heal wounds and growth of new cells.
Improves digestion: The high fibre content in oats makes it an ideal food for those suffering from constipation, colitis and other digestive problems.
Reduces risk of cancer: Phytochemicals present in oats help prevent cancer, especially breast and colon cancer.
Strengthens bones: Oats are rich in calcium, phosphorous and magnesium which helps strengthen bones and cut risk of osteoporosis.
Good for skin: Oatmeal makes for a good skin exfoliator. It also helps heal dry and flaky skin, eczema and other skin conditions.
Energy giver: Oats has a high carbohydrate content, which it makes it an excellent source of energy. Other nutrients such as phosphorus, vitamin-B, magnesium and iron — all of which help in energy production.

Stochastic Probability Theory - Pregnant Deer Scenario

Stochastic Probability Theory - Pregnant Deer Scenario(MUST READ AND SHARE )
Consider this scenario: In a remote forest, a pregnant deer is about to give birth
to a baby. It finds a remote grass field near by a river and slowly goes there thinking it would be safe. As she moves slowly, she gets labor pain…. at the same moment, dark clouds gather around that area and lightning starts a forest fire. Turning left she sees a hunter who is aiming an arrow from a distance. As she tries to move towards right, she spots a hungry lion approaching towards her.

Stochastic Probability Theory - Pregnant Deer Scenario
What can the pregnant deer do ….as she is already under labor pain ?

What do you think will happen ?
Will the deer survive ?
Will it give birth to a fawn ?
Will the fawn survive ? or
Will everything be burnt by the forest fire ?

That particular moment ?

Can the deer go left ? – Hunter’s arrow is pointing

Can she go right ? – Hungry male lion approaching

Can she move up ? – Forest fire

Can she move down ? – Fierce river

Answer: She does nothing. She just focuses on giving birth to a new LIFE.
The sequence of events that happens at that fraction of a second (moment) are as follows:
In a spur of MOMENT …a lightning strikes (already it is cloudy ) and blinds the eyes of the Hunter. At that MOMENT, he releases the arrow missing and zipping past the deer. At that MOMENT the arrow hits and injures the lion badly. At that MOMENT, it starts to rain heavily and puts out the forest fire. At that next MOMENT, the deer gives birth to a healthy fawn.
In our life, it’s our MOMENT of CHOICE and we all have to deal with such negative thoughts from all sides always. Some thoughts are so powerful they overpower us and makes us clueless. Let us not decide anything in a hurry. Let’s think of ourselves as the pregnant deer with the ultimate happy ending. Anything can happen in a MOMENT in this life. If you are religious, superstitious, atheist, agnostic… or whatever… you can attribute this MOMENT as divine intervention, faith, sudden luck, chance (serendipity), coincidence… or a simple ‘don’t know’. We all feel the same. But, whatever one may call it, I would see the priority of the deer in that given moment was to giving birth to a baby…. because LIFE IS PRECIOUS.
Hence, whether you are deer or a human, keep that faith and hope within you always.
